Player Profile – Kenneth Sands Traditional and Contemporary Didgeridoo Video

Scottish Born NZ based Kenneth Sand paid us a visit a few weeks ago. Kenneth has been teaching and playing didgeridoo for over 20 years and is one of those rare freakish players that is equally comfortable playing both traditional and contemporary didge.

He has studied Aboriginal music for years and also studied traditional crafting and playing under the great Djalu Gurruwiwi in North East Arnhem Land. He was authorised and requested by Djalu Gurruwiwi to share his experiences and knowledge to the rest of the world and encouraged by Djalu to continue teaching Didgeridoo to help foster awareness and respect of traditional Aboriginal cultures of Northern Australia.

Kenneth is also one of the few accomplished Bronze Age Horn players, having performed with both instruments regularly.

Kenneth formed the band “Resonance” in 1999, which led to him producing and recording the professional music CD called “Resonance-Organic Dance Didjeridu” which many people regard as one of the finest didgeridoos cd’s ever produced.

Definitely, one of our favourite store visits. Check him out!

New Earl Clements Didgeridoos and Didge Making Photos!

Some beautiful Earl Clements didgeridoos have arrived including some amazing flared and bell end didges, all painted in the classic Western Arnhem Land style.

Earl is a hard working one man operartion. He is the didge cutter, crafter and the artist.

Check out some photos of Earl sweating away in Australia’s top end on a didge making expedition for Spirit Gallery.

Kristian Benton At Spirit Gallery With New Didges!

Our good friend Kristian Benton visited us just after Christmas with a beautiful bunch of quality instruments.

He has been busy this year performing several times at the World Expo in South Korea as the Australian indigenous performer. He is about to embark on a tour of South Africa and will continue to make quality instruments exclusively for Spirit Gallery throughout 2013.

Sarangi & Didgeridoo Together! – Kash Killion and Reno Safarian

Multi-instrumentalist Kash Killion dropped into Spirit Gallery for a visit. Upon seeing our collection of didgeridoos he brought back his Sarangi and the result is below!!

An accomplished Sarangi player, he has studied this complex instrument with the great masters Sultan Khan and Rhamish Mishra.

But never played one with a didge. Has anyone? Great fun!

Kash is a San Francisco based cellist, bassist, sarangist, vocalist, and composer. He has performed with various ethnic music ensembles and chamber orchestras and has over a hundred recordings to his name. Check him out http://www.kashkillion.com/

Barramundi-Customer/Player Video Profile on the Black Spruce Didgeridoo

Introducing “Barramundi”.

A local Sydney didgeridoo player and regular visitor to our store. In fact most of these instruments in his collection pictured above came from Spirit Gallery.

He has only been playing for a couple of years. Not bad for such a short period!!

Strong, Powerful Player. Enjoy!!

What didge is he playing. A gorgeous sweet toned White Mountain Essence Didjeridu all the way from our good friends in New Hampshire USA.

This one’s for you Steven!! Best “blind” didge purchase Spirit Gallery has ever made and now part of our private collection. Check out WEDIDJ at  http://www.wedidj.com/

Full Burton Didges now online. Check them out.

As mentioned in our previous post Spirit Gallery will be the only didge store in the WORLD to have some rare NEW FULL BURTON DIDGES. Quite an honour considering he is only made a handful over the last few years.

Burton didgeridoos are prized for their unique bell sizes, optimum backpressure, awesome acoustics, ideal resonance and extreme volume and all come with a Burton lifetime guarantee. The full Burton logo is burned into the bell end of every Burton Instrument.

Check out the reputation of the man and his didges  http://burtondidj.com/. The only available instruments are now all at Spirit Gallery and for the same price as on the Burton site.

Already a lot of interest in them. One already gone before it had a chance to get online. Might be a very long time before some new Burtons appear again!!

New Didgeridoo Uploads- December Christmas 2012

We have been busy uploading over 60 new didgeridoos in the last week. In this lot we have some long awaited primo stuff from master craftsmen Adam Henwood of CrookedStixz– a real favourite among serious players.

Also some amazing Earl Clements didges at very fair prices. Beautifully painted with traditional motifs, awesome sound quality and some of our best value for money didges. Earl only sends us the best as he knows how fussy we are!

Also available are some of our popular affordable hand painted didgeridoos by Brendan Porteous, Leony Roser and Chad Burns.

In the next few weeks we will have dozens of quality didges arriving from the likes of Kristian Benton, Tristan OMeara, Alastair Black, Bruce Rogers and Heartland Didgeridoos and some larger flares and belled didgeridoos from Earl Clements and much more. It will be a didgeridoo bonanza here at Spirit Gallery over the next few weeks.

Finally, keep an eye out online as Spirit Gallery will be the only didge store in the WORLD to have some rare NEW FULL BURTON didges available for sale. Our good friend Nathan was nice enough to choose Spirit Gallery to showcase the very few didges he has recently made.
